The Education Assistant (EA) Program at Apex Community College is designed and developed to provide an introduction to child growth and development, an overview of child education development, and the practical skills needed to assist in K-12 classrooms across British Columbia (BC). This career-focused Education Assistant training program prepares learners with the knowledge and foundational skills required to support teachers and students in diverse educational environments.
Learners in this program will be able to work in both elementary and secondary schools in a variety of settings, including regular classrooms, resource rooms, work experience sites, and life-skills training. Graduates are prepared for Education Assistant careers in BC schools, supporting student learning, classroom inclusion, and educational success. Education assistants often start on-call in the school districts and then apply to both full- and part-time positions.

Upon completion of this program the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

100% of instructional hours are delivered in a classroom or learning environment where instructors and students share the same physical space. Students participate in face-to-face instruction, discussions, and practical learning activities.
Distance Education:
100% of instructional hours, excluding work experience hours (if applicable), are delivered remotely from a B.C. location through online learning platforms.
Online Learning Format (if applicable):
Online instruction is delivered through synchronous learning , where students attend virtual classes in real time with instructors and classmates.
