Program Description

The Advanced Canadian Nursing Program for IENs is a professional development and up-skilling program designed for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) with at least 2 years of nursing experience who want to work as a registered nurse in Canada. This program is designed for professionals who have training and education within countries that share a similar framework of nursing responsibilities and duties to Canadian standards. 

 

We invite IENs who meet our eligibility requirements to join us for a nursing program focused on training EINs to complete all the required steps to meet the educational, professional, and legal requirements to work as a licensed nurse (RN / LPN) in Canada.

The program will cover the following: 

NNAS Assessment and Registration 

NCLEX exam preparation 

The licensing process for Canadian Provinces and Territories after completion of the NCLEX examination 

General Admission Requirements

Mature student status (19 years of age)

Nursing Degree or Diploma 

2 years of work experience as a nurse in the past 5 years 

Current nursing license in home country 

English Language Proficiency Admission Requirements

English proficiency interview

IELTS 6.0 Academic Overall, no Band Score less than 5.5 

Completion of post-secondary or secondary education in a country where English is the official language 

Upon completion of this program the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

Describe the Canadian Healthcare System

Explain the registration process for the NNAS for Registerered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses

Explain the licensing and assessment process for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) and how they can receive consent to practice in Canada

Method(s) of Evaluation*

Quizzes, assignments, midterm exams, final exams.

Completion Requirements*

A grade of 70% or higher is required to complete the program.

Delivery Method(s)

Indicate how the program is delivered:

In-class instruction: 100% hours of instruction delivered in a classroom or other setting, where instructors share the same physical space as students.

Distance education: 100% hours of instruction, excluding work experience hours, if applicable, delivered remotely from a BC location.

If distance or combined delivery is indicated, the online components are:

 Synchronous: Meaning students attend classes virtually in ‘real time’ with instructors and classmates.
